Herceg Novi - You will love it ! Crystal clear Water and stunning Views. Herceg Novi is a town at the entrance of the Boka Kotorska Gulf. Mild Mediterranean climate, crystal clear sea water, long beaches, rich flora and fauna, are the reasons having an unforgettable vacation at the Herceg Novi Riviera. Herceg Novi is still decorated by several fortresses from the Turquish, Venetian, Spanish and Austrian periods. Herceg Novi has a specific microclimate, which is a result of southern exposition, proximity to the sea, limestone substratum and mountainous hinterland which prevents the breakthrough of cold air masses. Rare examples of flowers and decorative trees are cultivated there. Climate & Weather During the winter the temperature at Montenegro coast is mostly between 8-14 C and during summer between 25-34C.
The climate along Herceg Novi is a typical Mediterranean one, with mild, rainy winters and hot and dry summers. Summer temperatures in July can rise up to 34°C to 36°C. 2490 hours of sunshine a year. Herceg Novi ranks among the sunniest towns of southern Europe.
The Town The 'Town of painter and poets', located in Montengero on the Adriatic south coast, became a charming Mediterranean travel destination for people who like beach walkings without cars and highly automotive traffic. Because the beach areas (ca. 30km long) are completly restricted from cars and parking lots during travel and tourism seasons. The old town of Herceg Novi has beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings, churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains, which all cut mostly from the same light-coloured stone. Herceg Novi was founded 625 years ago by the Bosnian king Tvrtko I in 1382 who started to build the famous castle Forte Mare to protect the bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska Bay) from pirates and intruders. The Stari Grad (old town) of Herceg Novi is overlooking the sea from its steep hill, from its fortresses, stone stairs and belfries. It overlooks the sea with its gardens of orange, figg and lemon trees, tranquil palms, pines and cypresses. It overlooks the sea with its windows, balconies and terraces in the endless green and red of camellias. The town lyring the blue sea with fragrance of its roses, orleanders, jasmines, magnolias and mimosas. The Herceg Novi municipality stretches from Prevlaka to the Verige strait. An almost unbroken string of towns lie along this strip of coast, accommodating the municipality's 33,034 (2003 census) residents. These include Igalo, Herceg Novi, Baošići, Đenovići, Meljine and Bijela. Due to their proximity, Herceg Novi and Igalo are usually considered one town with a combined population of 16,493. Administratively, Herceg Novi's current population is 12,739.
The City Igalo
Igalo is a famous part of Herceg Novi and well known for his spa and health centers like the "Institute Dr Simo Milošević A.D."and the renowned Igalo Spa specialising in preventative and physical medicine, rehabilitation and beauty treatments making it the centre for health tourism in the Mediterranean. It has a large bathing beach and a promenade (7 km). A part of the beach is sandy, and the other is concrete which provides pleasant bathing. There are many restaurants and cafes which lure you with the smell of fish specialities, the sound of good music and pleasant environment.
